About Our Program

Recently, the Breastfeeding Buddies program of Waterloo Region was asked to speak at the UNICEF “Building Better Breastfeeding Counselling Programs; New Tools for Implementation” webinar in celebration of World Breastfeeding Week 2021 . This video was created to capture the philosopy and resources of our program, and share our foundational belief in a peer to peer breastfeeding support system.
We hope to inspire other peer programs, encourage new parents, collaborate with health care providers, and support new families in reaching their feeding goals.

Weaving Our Common Threads Documentary

The Breastfeeding Buddies Program of Waterloo Region and Manulife Centre for Community Health Research have produced a short film about our shared vision to build supportive breastfeeding communities through community-based peer support and collaboration.

This Canadian film is intended to be an engaging learning resource for programs offering breastfeeding education, promotion and support.

The film can be viewed in its entirety (60 minutes) or in shorter chapters that address: – Dispelling Common Myths & Overcoming Barriers – Supportive Partners – About Breastfeeding Buddies & Peer Support – Community Support & Public Breastfeeding Available at no cost thanks to a Community Breastfeeding Project Grant from Best Start Resource Centre, by Health Nexus.
